March 2026 Update: Compatibility Fix, Engine Display & Extended Truck Years

What's new on TruckCamperFinder — fixed compatibility matching for all trucks, engine info in config picker, tank size display, shower label clarification, and extended year coverage.

Published March 17, 2026

Another round of updates based on community feedback. This batch focuses on fixing a major compatibility bug, showing more useful specs in results, and making the truck config picker more informative.

Compatibility Results Fixed for All Trucks

Several users reported that trucks like the Ram 3500, Chevy 3500HD, and some F-150 configurations showed "no compatible campers found" — even though these trucks can carry nearly any camper on the market. The issue was that our matching system relied on pre-computed compatibility records, which hadn't been generated for newer truck configurations.

We've replaced that system with dynamic payload-based matching. Every truck now computes compatibility on the fly using your truck's actual payload capacity and bed length against every camper in our database. A 2015 Ram 3500 Crew Cab 8' SRW, for example, now correctly shows 109 compatible campers instead of zero.

Engine Info in the Config Picker

When your truck has multiple configurations for the same year, the config dropdown now shows the engine alongside cab type, bed length, and payload. This makes it much easier to pick the right configuration — a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 F-150 and a 5.0L V8 F-150 have very different payload numbers, and now you can see which is which at a glance.

Engine info also shows in the "Your Truck Configuration" summary card on the results page, so you can confirm you're looking at the right specs.

Tank Sizes and Shower Labels on Results

Camper result cards now show fresh water tank capacity (e.g., "30gal water") when available. We also clarified that both wet bath and dry bath campers include a shower — several users were confused about this, so the labels now read "Wet Bath (shower)" and "Dry Bath (shower)" to make it explicit.

Extended Truck Year Coverage

We've extended year support backward for all major truck models. Bed dimensions and payload ratings are shared across generations, so these older trucks get accurate compatibility results:

  • Ram 2500 & 3500 — Back to 2010 (4th gen)
  • F-150 — Back to 2015 (13th gen)
  • F-250 & F-350 — Back to 2017 (Super Duty 4th gen)
  • Silverado & Sierra HD — Back to 2015
  • Tundra — Back to 2014
  • Tacoma — Back to 2016 (3rd gen)
  • Frontier — Back to 2005

We're working on a center-of-gravity calculator and continuing to fill in missing camper images. Check our roadmap to see the full list, or request a feature.
